GALATI'S AUDI TAKES ROAD ATLANTA RACE ONE VICTORY |
|
|
TITLE HOPES REMAIN ALIVE AFTER STRONG RESULTS FOR BOTH CHAMPION S4'S |
|
. |
|
5 October 2001, Road Atlanta - Michael Galati got
the
jump on Speedvision GT title rival Peter Cunningham at the start, and held
that
lead to take the race win in the first of two races which decide the 2001
Speedvision
World Challenge GT Championship. Galati held a slim points lead going into
the
first of two Road Atlanta races, but required solid performances in both
races
to take the GT title.
That he did in fine style, leading throughout the first race, as team mate
Derek
Bell came home a fine third to clinch two podium spots for Audi, and
Bell's
best GT finish of the 2001 season. Going into Sunday's final race, Galati
needs
to finish just tenth or better to take the GT Drivers' Championship,
regardless
of what Cunningham does in the final race. |
