SPEED GT Saturday Practice at Mosport

Sunny skies on Thursday turned to cold, wind and continuous heavy rain on Friday, with two 3--minute official practice sessions scheduled. With clear and warm weather predicted for race day (Sunday), few GT teams participated in Friday's rainy morning session. The RS6 team felt that they had learned what they needed to know about the cars during the morning session, and so elected not to risk the cars by participating in the afternoon session.

However, Champion newcomer (and Sebring third-place finisher) Randy Pobst did get his first-ever wet laps in a Quattro race car, and he put the morning session to good use, getting in a number of laps' experience with Audi all-wheel drive. His efforts may be put to good use for Saturday morning's GT Qualifying session, which is slated to have much the same weather as today's practice.

An interesting factoid - In the over three years that Champion Racing has been competing in World Challenge with wet-condition-friendly Audi Quattro race cars (S4's in 2000-2002 and RS6 for 2003), there has NEVER been a wet World Challenge GT race!
